African American Civil Rights Movement

By Christopher O, Jericho L, and Allyve A

About

About

Over the course of the movement's time, more and more people began to join the battle against discrimination, in the form of protest marches and more.

These marches and many more helped to fix the problems within the government, giving Black people the freedom they deserved.

Causes

In December 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a crowded bus, leading to her arrest. This would become the catalyst for the movement in the name of Black People and ending segregation.

Perspective/Goals

Perspective/Goals

Rosa Parks : In an interview Parks says she felt that her rights as a human was being violated and obeying the drivers orders wouldn't be helping the conditions better for her and any other African Americans. Her goal was to end racial segregation laws.

Malcolm X : In an interview with Malcolm he believed that with or without white people, He will make society be independant, complete freedom and overall equal as a whole

Martin Luther King Jr : In an interview with Robert Penn Warren from 1964 MLK believed that if the movement were to continue his plans for the future would be to further intergrate society through non violent acts.

Impact

The previous efforts in helping to get rid of segregation led the public to have increased awareness on the unfairness of black people's lives.

This awareness led to the founding of the BLM movement and more people joining its battle against police brutality and systematic racism; its goal has not changed.
