The biomes in Afria can vary a lot from the hot deserts in the north to the vast savannahs and rainforests further down. Lots of species are found in Africa's biomes.
Savannahs are a vast expanse of grassland with few trees scattered here and there. They cover nearly half of Africa! There are usually fires in January and the dry season starts in October. The fires gives nutrients to the soil which helps to grow crops in the wet seasons.
These dry climates host very little life. The largest in Africa is the Sahara desert which is mostly covered in Rocky Plateau with the minority of it being sand seas. OIt covers 3.6 million square miles and hosts lots of different wildlife such as cacti, lots of vascular plants and animals such as vultures, lizards and camels.
Deforestation in the Central African Tropical Rainforest
The humid and wet biomes are usually foudn near the equator and host life to around 50% of the plant species. Some rainforests in Africa include the Central African Rainforest and the Congo Rainforest. It is one of the oldest living ecosystems and is very diverse when it comes to animal and plant life. Rainforests regulate global temperatures and gets around 33feet of rain a year!

The African continent has a unique place in human history. Widely believed to be the “cradle of humankind,” Africa is the only continent with fossil evidence of human beings (Homo sapiens) and their ancestors through each key stage of their evolution. Africa has also capitalised off of the slave-trades.
