- Complete all of the necessary licensing and certifications.
Education Requirements
- Must have at least a bachelor's degree to enter the career field.
- Takes 3-4 years.
- Typically master's degrees are preferred.
- Takes 2-3 years.
- May require 1 year of supervised administrative experience.
- Degrees usually are in healthcare management, healthcare administration, business administration, and public health administration.
Work Experience
- Typically required to have previous clinical experience.
- Typically required to have some previous administration or management experience.
- Good beginner jobs include:
- Health information technicians
- Financial clerks
- Administrative assistants
Work Experience
Licensing & Certification
- Licensing and certification laws vary state to state.
- Some states require both state and national licenses
- Some states only require state licenses
- While some states require no licensing
- Certification is not required, but may be sought out for beneficial reasons
