The Amazing Race Canada!
The Amazing Race Canada!
Terry Fox Memorial, St.Johns Newfoundland.
Terry Fox is is a very well known Canadian hero. Terry had lost his leg from cancer. Terry wanted to run from one end of Canada to the other on this artificial leg. Terry’s dream was to raise enough money to find a cure for cancer. No one told Terry to go out and raise money: he decided to run for cancer because he truly wanted to end cancer, not just because someone told him to. Terry had started his run by dipping his artificial leg into the Atlantic ocean on April 12, 1980. Terry ran about 42 kilometers a day, even through storms and heavy rain. After 143 days and 5373 kilometers of running, Terry was forced to stop because he learned that his cancer had spread to his lungs. Terry’s Marathon of Hope ended at Thunder Bay, Ontario. This memorial to one of Canada’s greatest heroes, will be the starting point of the race!
