Intro.

The Academy is committed to developing its staff to ensure that the skills, competencies and

knowledge required to manage and grow the business are provided to staff through self-learning,

facilitative and practical training interventions that add value, are cost effective and address the needs of both the individual and the academy at large.

The internal staff development program is designed to deliver the requisite changes in practice and behavior to support on-going and future business and operational needs.

Key Focus Areas

The 2018 staff development program emphasizes developing well - rounded employees who are not only excellent in business skills, but also in social life skills, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.

Training within the Academy takes the following form:

  • On the job professional training
  • Self and people Management/leadership skills development.
  • Individual Continuous Professional Development in pursuit of professional training within the areas of their respective specialization.
  • The terms under which staff pursue professional training are governed by the Staff development policy.

Who is responsible for employee training and development?

Staff development is a shared responsibility of management and the individual employee.

The responsibility of management is to provide the right resources and an environment that

supports the growth and development needs of the individual employee.

For the success of training and development the academy will endeavor to:

  • Provide training required by employees to meet the basic competencies for the job.
  • Develop a good understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities that the Academy will need in the future.
  • Look for learning opportunities in every-day activity.
  • Explain the employee development process and encourage staff to develop individual development plans
  • Support staff when they identify learning activities that make them an asset to the Academy organization both now and in the future
