These are the final two pieces of coursework to complete for this unit!
The project has been completed, now it's time to evaluate our (the project team) performance and reflect upon anything we would do differently
P6 - Evaluate feedback
We are going to evaluate whether our project has been successful and delivered upon our promises in the business case.
This means we will need to get some information from the client and also the other members of the team
We need to look back at our business case and look at what we promised in our cost-to-benefit analysis
You are going to design a questionnaire for the client to complete to check if you have delivered on your promises
This will need to address many of the bullet points on page 16 - whether the project has....
Many of these questions can only be answered by the client i.e. did the project deliver the benefits in the business case
Some questions can only be answered by the team...i.e did you deviate from resources
You will now need to produce a report, analysing the results of your survey, as well as answer some questions regarding team performance
Your next topic will discuss whether you have achieved the objectives
This evidence will need to come from your client....only they will know this answer!
These were set out in the business case!
This is something that your team will know - i.e. did your client change their mind and ask for extras/remove parts of the project
What was the rationale for this?
Look at each quality target in your project plan and state if these have been met to the specified standard.
How do you know?
This information could come from your client survey, or you could produce a survey for your team.
This means have there been any delays? What were they? Why did they present themselves? Did you take any action to minimise their impact?
Did this affect the overall completion date?
Why was this? What happened? Were you able to use any contingency that you had set aside? Were you able to save money elsewhere and come in on budget? Perhaps you came in UNDER budget for the project. Why was this?
You created a resource plan in p4
Did you actually use all of these resources? Did you miss anything off there that you actually needed? Did you include something that turned out not to be necessary?
Did you have lots of a resource left over (like paper or toner perhaps)
Will this influence your planning in this area of subsequent projects?
This means did the project run smoothly.
Were team members available and effective at their job?
Did you utilise your project methodology effectively, or for future projects would you swap to a different PM methodology?
What were the major achievements?
What positive effect has this e-commerce site had on your clients business?
What went wrong?
How has this impacted upon the clients business?
Did you go over budget? Did you have to delay the launch? How will this affect them?
Were there any problems experienced by the client soon after launch? Website reliability? Ease of use?
Simply, what will you do differently next time?
Why is this?
What will it improve?
Who will benefit?
For the M3 criteria, you will need to identify potential improvements for similar future projects
This will need to be based upon the outcome of the project evaluation just completed.
This will be a separate report, but you can refer back to the findings of your evaluation of this current project
You will need to think about what processes you can put in place that will ensure the small failings in this project are not repeated in the next project.
This could be things like allocated too many resources that are not needed, to how you have dealt with staff absence or scope changes
