He was born and raised in Israel in 1976 in a simple Jewish family. Taught himself to read at age three. He studied in a class created for intellectual children from the age of eight. He began studying history and international relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at age 17.
Harari got his PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) at Oxford, in 2002.
Then, he started writing.

It became a bestseller in Israel, gained popularity among the public, turning him into a celebrity.

In 2016, he published this follow-up book for Sapiens.
It examines most possibilities for the future of humanity.
Created the term Dataism --> A new form of religion where information flow is the main value.

It's his latest book, published in 2018.
Focuses more on nowadays topics and problems.
In one of the lessons, he talks about IT arms-races,AI and robots,etc.:
"by 2050 a new class of people might emerge – the useless class. People who are not just unemployed, but unemployable."
"Humans certainly have a will – but it isn't free. You cannot decide what desires you have... Every choice depends on a lot of biological, social and personal conditions that you cannot determine for yourself."
"AI often frightens people because they don’t trust the AI to remain obedient. Yet the real problem with robots is exactly the opposite. We should fear them because they will probably always obey their masters and never rebel."
Awards
Harari won the Polonsky Prize for "Creativity and Originality", in 2009 and 2012.
In 2011, he won the Society for Military History's Moncado Award for outstanding articles in military history.
In 2012, he was elected to the Young Israeli Academy of Sciences.
Sapiens was in the top 3 of The New York Times Best Seller list for 96 weeks.
In 2017, Homo Deus won a German Award for the most thoughtful and influential economic book of the year.
In 2018 and 2020, he spoke at the World Economic Forum conference.
