How did great whites become endangered
Many people killed them for their fins and teeth. Shark fins are sold for a lot of money due to the food shark fin soup. Gordon Ramsey said "Shark fining is the worst act of animal cruelty I've ever seen." After catching the shark the fishers cut off its fins then throw it back into the water.
Somewhere between 3000-6000 great whites are left. There are more giant pandas then great whites.
Other sharks are in danger to. Around 100 million sharks are killed each year. 11,416 an hour. Only around 5 humans die from shark attacks each year. There was only 1 kill in 2018.
No great whites have survived in tanks. The longest time a great white has survived in a tank was 198 days. Great whites are ether released because owners know they will die. Or they... well die.
Sadly yes, The fins and teeth sell for a lot which helps the economy. do to there endangerment it has been made against the law to hunt them (Not that's its stopped many people). The less great whites the less shark attack. The less sharks people have been less scared to go into the water.

Do great white sharks attack humans
Not often, great whites happen to know that you won't be as easy to kill as a seal would be. Sharks have sometimes mistaken humans for seals. Most of the time these people were on surf boards. Sharks don't tend to have great sight. But even this rarely happens. It's more likely to have a vending machine fall on you then to be killed in a shark attack.
Great white sharks are the top of the food chain. So as you might have guessed the food chain would spiral out of control. It would cause catastrophic damage.
