Why was the Airplane invented?

Planes were first used for military purposes during World War I, but only in very limited ways. Then people started to use it for recreation purposes, transportation of goods, transportation of people, and research.

How do they work?

Airplanes are shaped a certain way so the air move faster over the top of the wing. When that happens, the pressure of the air is less so the pressure of the top of the wing is less than is in the bottom of the wing and that's what makes planes fly.
