The Dangers of

CLIMATE

CHANGE

Claire Wilson

Climate Change By The Year 2100 Will Be Nightmarish

Main Topic

We are killing the planet by plunging Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere nonstop, but Climate Change isn't entirely our fault.

The blistering heat waves will evaporate our food and water supply, leaving us with the few crops that can grow in such heat

So, how can we survive this apocalypse?

Will The Heat Make Earth Uninhabitable?

In a way, yes. Let me explain. The intense heat waves and storms that are coming our way will be hard to survive due to simple livable conditions such as water, food, and cooling.

Main

Question

What Can We Do?

If we were speaking of reducing the amount of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), we can do many things. These things are simple. Turn off electricy using items when you are not in need of them. Drive less, walk more.

Buy more organic foods that don't go through processors and factories. Easy things like these will become habits and some people take on other people's habits and it soon becomes the new normal.

Food Supply

Why Is Our Food And Electricity Supply At Risk?

As the heat waves increase in severity, humans will rely on the energy-gobbling air conditioners that only come on when the temperature is high. This is a nightmare for utility workers and companies as they struggle to have enough power for such a high demand without wasting it all. Our food supply, is also in fact, at risk. Wildfires and unlivable conditions make it difficult for plants and animals to survive.

Habits?

Habits

Plenty of people have habits, some bad, some good. How can we turn the little things that help decrease CO2 levels, into habits? First, we need to remind ourselfs to do them. Either putting stickynotes everywhere or writing/typing it down in your calendar, it will help. If we do things like eat more organic things and turn off the lights and when you are done; more often, it will become a habit and possibly impact the Earth's health.

How Long Can We Survive?

The human body can go more than 3 weeks without food but it depends on the person. Death by heat can occur at around 45-61 days. Electricity keeps us cool and keeps our food safe. Without it, we could survive for quite a long time however for those who rely completely on it for everything, may not live as long as those who only use it strictly for entertainment and storage purposes.

The human body cannot last long in extreme heat. “At a wet-bulb temperature of 35 degrees Celsius or 167 degrees Fahrenheit “feels like” (100 degrees Fahrenheit with 85% humidity for example), the human body cannot cool itself enough to survive more than a few hours.”

(Stephen Leahy) The human body has sweat glands all over however, if you’re in an extremely warm climate for too long without water or anything other than sweat to cool you down, those sweat glands will stop working. As soon as those sweat glands stop producing sweat, you can only last a few hours or even a few minutes. For those who don’t have electric cooling and often have droughts, this is lethal for them. While, yes, the Earth is incredibly overpopulated with 7.6 billion people, however this will cause mass extinction for humans.
