The Peabody College has been our largest source of recruits and has previously encouraged our program to let them know of any further needs or potential areas for collaboration.

Email Campaigns

The majority of previous college outreach has been done through targeted email campaigns to local colleges departments, clubs, or programs that are relevant to youth mentoring.

Targeted College Recruitment

Areas to Target

College recruitment has been the most succesful when targeting students who are interested in areas like education, international affaris, or social psychology.

Students often prefer opportunities that are flexible and may be more interested in virtual volunteering than other age groups.

Peabody College

Peabody College

The Peabody College has been our largest source of mentors. The college focuses on combining education with human development and has a lot of students who are interested in the intersection of educational access and social capital. Many students also come from an international background. There graduate program has been very open to formal partnerships and has previously advertised for the program across the entire college.

UT College of Social Work

UT College of Social Work

UT has a wide network of graduate social work students across the state, including a large Nashville campus and an online program. Students may be interested in volunteering and could also be recruited for internship or staff openings.

MTSU

MTSU also has a large number of undergraudate and graduate programs and many students may be located closer to clients in areas like Murfreesboro, La Vergne, or other parts of Rutherford County. Recruitment can be expanded to target MTSU students who may be more accesible for mentees in that area.

For example: Vanderbilt's campus website is, https://anchorlink.vanderbilt.edu/organizations . You can use a filter to show organizations focused on "Culture/Diversity."
