SOE OF FALKLAND WAR (2 apr - 14 june 1982)
Started on Friday 2nd April 1982 when an Argentine military force had invaded the islands thinking that they actually had claim to the land
Battle of Goose Green took place between 28 to 29 May 1982, and it was part of Falklands War
Initiated when Argentina invaded and occupy the Falkland Island
Goose Green is a settlement in Lafonia on east Falkland in the Falkland Islands
First and the longest battle in the Falkland War took

Darwin–Goose Green area was occupied by one Argentine Regiment. Consisted of three infantry coy (two from 12IR and one from 25IR), one platoon from 8IR, plus a possible amphibious platoon together with artillery and helicopter support.
Lt Col Herbert Jones planned the operation to be conducted in six phases, as a complicated night-day, silent-noisy attack (see Map):
C Company was to secure the start line, and then
A Company was to launch the attack from the start line on the left (Darwin) side of the isthmus to capture Burnside House
B Company would then launch their attack from the start line directly after A Company had initiated contact and would advance on the right (Boca House) side of the isthmus
Once A and B companies had secured their initial objectives, D Company would advance from the start line between A and B companies and were to take defence positions once having reached their objective.
C Company would pass through D Company and neutralise any remaining Argentine reserves
C Company would then advance again and clear the Goose Green airfield and the settlements of Darwin and Goose Green would be secured by A and D companies respectively.

A Company soon cleared the eastern end of the Argentine position and opened the way forward

C and D Companies began to make their way to the small airfield as well as Darwin School, which was east of the airfield
C Company took heavy losses when they became the target of intense anti-aircraft 35 mm direct fire
BATTLE OUTCOME
Lt Col Herbert Jones KIA during encouter battle at Darwin Hill.
Lieutenant-Colonel Piaggi surrendered all Argentine forces after been surrounded by the British, approximately 1,000 men, including 202 men of the Air Force.
The fourteen-hour battle had cost lot of KIA & WIA according to Surgeon Commander Rick Jolly who was in charge of treating the wounded

Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert 'H' Jones was a former CO of 2nd Regt Para. He was killed during Battle at Darwin Hill.
During this Op, He blamed the BBC News because spread the rumour using radio that British was to conduct the Ops.
Major Chris Keeble, who took over command of 2 Para when Jones was killed.
Awarded the DSO for his actions at Goose Green after succeed surround the Argentina.
His leadership at Goose Green was one of the key factors which led to the British victory
COMMAND AND CONTROL
Lieutenant-Colonel Ítalo Ángel Piaggi surrendered his forces in Goose Green on the Argentinian National Army Day (29 May)
He was forced to resign from the army, and faced ongoing trials questioning his competence at Goose Green
24 February 1992, after a long fight in both civil and military courts, Piaggi had his retired military rank and pay reinstated as a full Colonel
