Katniss has a mockingjay pin and she said it might be a good luck charm.Later in the book when she meets Rue they use the mockingjays to notify each other. She eventually shows Peeta how to use the mockinjays to notify eachother.
The bread symbolizes Katnisses first real meeting with Peeta. She is hungry and waiting outside his family's bakery. He has burnt bread in his hand, he throws some at the pigs and then a loaf at her.
This is important because it is Katniss's main weapon.Katniss uses this to hunt for her family. Katniss uses this weapon to get the attention from the capital and she uses it to get her first kill.
The berries are important because Peeta finds them to eat and they end up being poisonous. When they find out they are supposed to kill each other, Katniss suggests that they eat them and die together so that they don't need to kill each other.
The trees are important because that was Katniss first hiding spot. This is also the place were she was spotted .And the place were she dropped tracker jacks on the group tracking her and injures other contestants.
The hunger games is about Katniss Everdeen, an outcast in district 12 that provides for her family because her father died in a mining accident and because her mother is depressed. .Her sister name is pulled from reaping bowl and katniss volunteers for her because she doesn't want to see her sister fight for her life and peeta names gets pulled to.And the both have to pretend to be in love with each other for the sake of their lives while also hating each other. I love this book. I like how you get to see a strong girl fight for her life and meet people she cares about and lose them and to have to go back to her life before.Even though she has killed people and seen people be killed. I read this book through a social class lense you see rich people enjoy kids fighting for their lives and barely feel any sympathy.
