1929

Anne Frank was a jewish girl born in the german city of Frankfurt. She lived with her one sister (Margot Frank) her mom (Edith Frank) and her dad (Otto Frank). Anne was a wonderful girl and she was always positive and brave, but conditions in Frankfurt were not going so well. Many people were poor and Adolf Hitler was gaining support to solve there problems. They came to power in 1933.

Frankfurt

Adolf Hitler

Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Germany and he came to power with the Nazi's in 1933. The germans and Nazi's had hated the jewish people and blamed almost all their mistakes/problems on the jews. But it was not only the jews, they hated almost anyone who was not white (black) and had disabilities. When he came to power.....World War 2 had started.

Amsterdam

1933

In 1933, the Franks had fled to the Netherlands and settled in Amsterdam where they lived a happier life. They had moved because Adolf Hitler and his team the Nazis had spread the war to Frankfurt and had taken people hostage then sent them to different concentration camps. While that was happening the Franks were living a better life in Amsterdam, there Anne went to school and made friends. The Franks had finally felt at home....well at least until the war had spread to the Netherlands in 1942.

1942

Anne and her family had been enjoying another day in Amsterdam until....they had got a call from Adolf Hitler. When Margot received a call-up to report for a so-called 'labour camp' in Nazi Germany on 5 July 1942, her parents were suspicious. They did not believe the call-up was about work and decided to go into hiding the next day in order to escape persecution. Before they went into hiding the left a false trail leading to Switzerland. They did this so they could avoid detection from the germans (Nazis). They hid in the an attic apartment behind Otto Frank's business, located at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. They stayed there with four other people, Auguste Van Pels, Peter van Pels, Hermann van Pels, and Fritz Pfeffer.

This is what the secret annex looked liked on the inside.

The other four

If your wondering about the four other people in the annex ill tell you a little about them! Auguste Van Pels, Peter van Pels, Hermann van Pels, and Fritz Pfeffer were all workers/employees at Otto Frank's business so the franks had trusted them a lot. They also had another person in there named Jan Gies the person told to be tho one who betrayed the Franks. OK that's it from me, Click this link below to learn more about these people.

1942-1944

It had been weeks since Adolf Hitler and his party the Nazis had invaded the Netherlands and weeks since the Franks went into hiding. Things were going good so far in the annex, they hadn't been found or captured. It was boring in the annex, everyone had to stay quiet and no one was aloud out side of the annex. Mostly everyone just sat around the annex or read books, but Anne started writing in her diary that she got on her 13th B-day. She wrote about what she would do if she could ever go out of the annex again but she also wrote about her feelings and thoughts. She also started on a Novel and wrote short stories with the sentences she copied from her book of beautiful sentences. During the time in the annex, days went by fast and soon enough it had already been two years hiding in the annex

Anne's diary

The Anne Frank House Museum is in Amsterdam. The house is located on 263 Prinsengracht, where Anne Frank spent two years in hiding with her family and wrote her famous diary. It is now a museum dedicated to the life of this brave Jewish girl.

The Franks were enjoying another day in the annex until german officers raided the annex! Everyone in the annex were shocked including the officers, the franks and the other four were immediately taken captive and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination and concentration camp complex in German-occupied Poland (A place where Adolf Hitler had invaded to regain lost territory). They were there for a couple days before it was decided that Anne and Margot were spared from immediate death but they were going to be sent to Bergan-Belson concentration camp. The day had came, Anne and Margot were transported to Bergan-Belson concentration camp. Their at Bergan-Belson they (Anne and margot) had to get to work. A couple days later Anne and Magot were informed that Edith had died but they were not really sad about it. They were not sad about it much because their mother didnt really know how to show love and they thought she was cold.

1944-1947

It had been a couple months since they had been sent to Bergan-Belson concentration camp. Although conditions in Bergan-Belson were terrible, their was a low supply of food and it was very damp. A few more months had passed and it was not getting any better, some people had gotten really sick because they contracted a disease called Typhus. Typhus was a deadly disease back in the 19's or 18's and it practically killed anyone who had/ contracted it. Soon something awful happened, Margot had contracted Typhus. Margot had gotten sick the following days and one day she passed. she died in March 31, 1945 at age 18-19. Margot would lived in Anne's heart forever, but hours later Anne had felt really ill and and later that day she died of exaution and Typhus just like Margot. Her death was March 31, 1945 at age 16 just two mere weeks before the Bergen-Belsen camp was liberated by the American forces. Otto Frank was informed about their deaths and he was devastated. Although he was one of the ten to survive the holocast he had no one left except for his friend Miep Gies. Days later he decided to go back into the bunker and search for lost things/important things. He luckly retrieved Annes diary and read it. It was so full of passion and fellings so he decided to fulfill his daughters dreams, Annes dream was to publish her diary. After months and years trying to publish her diary, it finally happened, her dreams were fulfilled. It was translated into more than 70 languages.

Years later Otto Frank got re-married but sadly died of lung

cancer in 1980.
