  • You must already have basic knowledge of the construction industry and residential construction in the UK.

  • It takes most people three months to a year to finish the course (145 hours total)

  • Specialised Retrofit Evaluators come in post-installation if issues have been identified through the basic evaluation questionnaire

  • They report results of their investigation to the clients, Trustmark, and the PAS 2035 team

  • At the Advanced Evaluation level, they will produce a formal report

Are usually experienced in the installation of one or more EEMs (energy efficiency measures) and can be registered with the relevant certification body for each of those EEMs.

  • The Medium Term Plan

  • The Retrofit Design

Q: What does a Retrofit Installer do?

A:

  • Perform a pre-installation building inspection

  • Validate the retrofit design (make sure it's sufficient for costing) and report to retrofit coordinator

  • Provide costing / estimates

  • May (if agreed upon with the RC) apply for planning permission and building regulations approval.

  • Install one or more energy efficiency measures (EEMs)

Q: What does a Retrofit Installer do?

A:

  • Make sure the interfaces between components are airtight and well insulated

  • Demonstrate compliance of processes and competence of operatives (with PAS 2030) if the RC finds any issues onsite

  • Perform commissioning and handover:

Handover includes giving advice to the clients and/or tenants on how the EEMs work, how to protect and maintain them, and how to operate them. Occupants must demonstrate their ability to operate the systems.
