Philosophy

Philosophy is the exploration of a fundamental problem. It has been around since the human being has been able to speak and think. It is very closely linked to education and learning. There are no boundaries. There are no right or wrong answers. There is only exploration of your thoughts regarding the ideas of others.

Use your devices to find the names of famous philosophers. - When did they live, what was their names, Who is the oldest philosopher?

Did you know the highest qualification a person can attain is a PhD. This is a Philosophical Doctorate.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this two term course students will have the skill to think in a divergent way about any element of life. They will have the confidence to express their opinion which shows their thought and reasoning.

Students will know that in philosophy there is no right of wrong answer.

Students will know that others may have different opinions and these must be respected at all times.

Embryo - This is two single cells becoming two parts to create the DNA life plan.

Fetus - Here the human is starting to form, they kick and suck their thumbs to get ready to survive when born.

Baby - 0 - 1 yr. Baby bonds with parents and needs to be fed, cleaned and kept safe. They start to make sounds, smile and move around.

Toddler 2 - 3 yrs.Walking, talking, playing. Parents protect, clothe and clean. The first independent behaviors emerge with the toddler feeding them-self.

Child - 4 - 12 yrs. Limited independence, playing with others, reading, writing, maths skill development,

Teenager 13 - 19 yrs. More limited independence leading to independence. Preparing for adult life. More complex learning and language skills.

Young Adult 20 - 35 yrs. Career qualification, young family. Saving for a home.

Mid Adult 36 - 64 yrs. Career expertise changes in employment teenage children.

Home paid for, grandchildren, overseas holidays, return to university to another qualification that is an interest like art etc.

Health issues start to become managed.

Reaction Patterns

In life and our existence there are four basic reaction patterns that all living things engage with.

Adjustment - This is following the social rules. You talk, I listen. We don't harm others.

Overstepping - This is breaking the social rules, violence, theft and damaging our planet is overstepping.

Negotiation - This is a discussion to get a win/win result. It involves compromise.

Reaction Patterns

Withdrawal - This is leaving to stay safe. Removing yourself or others from danger.
