Anne was an American poet, originally born in Northampton, England

Anne became one of the first poets of the American colonies.

She came from England to Massachusetts Bay at the age of 18.

She sailed with her husband, parents, and other Puritans.

Poems

Anne Bradstreet had eight children.

She wrote many of her poems while raising her children or often while sick ("Bradstreet, Anne," 2017).

  • Her early works were epic in nature and mainly focused on political events or spiritual concerns.
  • Later works were much more personal and spoke of marital love, problems of piety, and parental duty. These were the works that she became best known for ("Bradstreet, Anne," 1997).
