Hercules went to a priest named Eumolpus and was initiated into the mysteries which were sacred religious rites known for bringing happiness to those in the underworld.

He traveled to a place known as Taenarum, where he ventured into a deep rocky cave that lead him to the underworld.
Hercules asked Hades if he could take Cerberus and the god agreed on one condition.
Hercules would not be able to use any weapons to take Cerberus.
He eventually found him at the gates of Acheron.
Hercules wrapped his arms around Cerberus and subdued him.
