Back when the land that would soon be known as America was founded, the British decided to settle here and some of those British did not appreciate how they were being treated. So, they rebelled time and time again until they finally got Great Britain to leave them alone, thus creating what is now known as America.
They used this political cartoon to help persuade some colonies that were on the edge of rebelling
Starting in 1765 the American Revolution, the main rebellion to get free from Great Britain, the 13 colonies at the time did not appreciate how they were being treated, which was poorly. So, due to the poor treatment of all 13 colonies, they all banded together and eventually took out Great Britain and got their freedom and independence from Great Britain in 1783
From the Revolution the people claimed that all people shall be equal and should be free, but that was hardly the case. Only white men were the ones that were truly free people, both colored people and women were still treated poorly and didn't have the rights to do anything they wanted, they were treated as property.
Every group of people that did not have freedom from the revolution all fought for freedom in a sense, the 2 main ones that opened up all eyes that saw anyone besides them as inferior, and also allowed others to get freedom were the blacks and women.
In the New World (America now) people wanted freedom, but they couldn't have that with Great Britain in the way and being in charge of them, they wanted their own country and government, so they needed to somehow get rid of them to create their own country where it is based on freedom. They needed a plan and a good one so they can get the freedom they truly desire.
The solution was to rebel into a major war between the rebels and Great Britain. They fought for several years until General George Washington arrived, and that was the best general they ever had, and under his rule they had beaten the British and they went back to Britain to leave the rebels with their freedom
In the year 1783, the American Revolution had finally ended and Britain had withdrawn their forces from America, and the rebels had finally won and gained their freedom, that may seem very cut and dry but some of the groups didn't gain their freedom completely until years after the Revolution ended.
There was only one true group that gained freedom due to the American Revolution, and that was the white males. Even though, so many more groups fought in the revolution other than the white males, they were the only ones that truly gained freedom at that time.
During the time of the revolution the men thought that women and blacks were only property so they gave both of those groups very little rights, they were also thought mainly of being the males property at the time, and didn't think it was necessary for their "property" to then have equal rights and freedom to them.
Due to the men thinking that the women and blacks didn't deserve their freedom that caused the blacks and women to eventually rebel when they have had enough and finally get their freedom, making their equality more valuable and them to respect it more, because they fought much longer to get their freedom than the American Revolution has went on for and they have been fighting for their freedom ever since the revolution has ended.
There are two major groups of people that have fought for their freedom in America after the Revolution has ended and they were being discriminated upon and being known as property to the white males. Those two groups are the blacks and the women. Both have fought endlessly in the battle for their freedom until they were finally given it.
Technically, women had some freedom right after the Revolution, but they weren't truly 100% free, they were still bound to their husband, not being allowed to do anything without their husband permission and they were considered property. There were plenty of women fighting for the rights and freedom they did not have yet, they would protest with signs in front of the white house, they would pass out flyers to spread the word about their groups and explain why they want and deserve freedom, some even went to jail for the cause of achieving freedom. They did anything and everything for their rights.
The blacks have fought incredibly hard for their freedom, they started out as slaves mainly in the south, but when the 16th president of America, Abraham Lincoln helped the blacks gain their freedom. After they gained freedom, they didn't really because they were still being treated unfairly with the Jim Crow laws and getting underpaid. It wasn't until the most voiced black man known, Martin Luther King Jr. started to rally to rebel against whites to get their freedom, they stopped at no cost to get their freedom until they finally got what they deserved, their freedom.
