SUICIDE,

that word caught your attention, didn't it?

It's the actions that lead up to it that go unnoticed.

Our Calling

  • The National Veteran Foundation has a solution to the Veteran Suicide problem.
  • A Vet-to-Vet crisis hotline, the Lifeline for Vets, in operation since 1985 and staffed by trained fellow Veterans.

OUR CALLING

TO OUR VETERANS

  • Guidance to wellness services and counseling are available for Veterans and their families.

AT A GLANCE

There is an average of 22 Veterans who commit suicide each day, and that is just the unofficial number. It is believed there is likely 24-25 Veterans a day who take

their own lives.

AT A GLANCE

FAMILIES

Families of Veteran's;

  • The impact of war and military service on families of veterans is relatively understudied.
  • The divorce rate in the United States wavers over 40 -50%, that number jumps to an 80% for combat veterans.
  • Traumatic experiences like combat seem to have a persistent impact on the ability for people to form and maintain successful relationships.
  • Do members of the military and their spouses need special counseling? What kinds of support do veterans and their spouses need after their service ends? Who will provide the help they need?

Statistics

Common reasons for veteran suicides:

  • Lack of community/family support
  • Personal health and well being
  • Disability caused by service
  • Economic disparities
  • Homelessness

Veterans are left with issues such as:

  • Depression
  • Sleep disorders/ Night terrors
  • Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI)
  • Pain diagnosis
  • Mental Health

The average wait time to be seen for non-life threatening issues in the VA health care is 17.7 days.

Between 2005 and 2017, 78,875 veterans took their own lives, according to the most recent sate from the Veterans Affairs (VA)

STATISTICS

About 11% of the adult homeless population are veterans. 1 of 4 homeless is a veteran.

About 11-20 of every 100 who serve suffer from Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This triggers terrifying events.

HOME

It isn't always a place. It's also a feeling.

Upon arrival from the service mental state is met with turmoil, sometimes even more so than at war.

A sense of structure through friendships, family members, and programs will build a foundation for your mental health to flourish.

HOME

Although your physical state has returned from war your mental process has a permanent pass back to the bad lands.
