This project focuses heavily on involving the SMU community as much as possible. The main objective is to raise awareness and solve the problems starting from the roots. Moreover, there are several benefits to this project including:
Potential solutions
Equipment order by provider/installer
An engineer will come by to evaluate the electrical status of SMU ensuring that everything is compatible with your new energy system
“Flipping the switch” Before you can connect your solar panels to the electric grid, a representative from your town government will need to inspect the system and give approval
The timeline for the installation will range from one to three days, depending on the size of the system being installed.
Installing solar panels involves a lot of paperwork depending on the laction and local regulations.

Community engagement campaigns and programs are focused on using our campus to incubate great ideas and replicable models for change.
We would like that students participate during this phase in order to grow a community that believes in the idea of sustainability.
Despite the continuous efforts SMU are making to decrease the pollution on campus, problems still exist. Cigarette butts can be found almost all over the smoking area and in random spots.
A Survey shows that placing signs to guide people to the cigarette bins decrease the number of cigarettes butts on the ground
Each month we provide the student who collects the highest amount of cigarette butts with a place in MSB’s parking lot for a whole week to increase students’ willingness to clean the campus.
it is the best cost-effective solution to get rid of waste in a green way.
Tunisie Recyclage is a non-governmental association that can come to the campus take the waste, sort it and recycle it.
Tunisie Recyclage charges individuals 50dt/year.
So it will be the cheapest way in the market to deal with the waste and to keep the campus green
During their free time, SMU students could rent Electric Scooters to go anywhere near the campus instead of using their cars.
A survey has shown that more than 67% of SMU students are willing to pay more than 5TND/h to rent the scooter during the day.
Insurance in case of any accidents is to be further developed with the campus administration

With the opening of the new cafeteria, SMU could promote a healthier approach to its students by offering healthy snacks and foods.
Salad bars are a quick and painless way to get a heaping plate of fresh fruits and vegetables all at once.
SMU uses a large amount of paper per day to print out several things that could be easily reducing by implementing a few processes.
Carbon footprint game / Cigarette butts clean up
Flayou Tunis workshop / Movie screening

"Green Week" is a week-long initiative aiming to raise awareness about the
importance of protecting and caring for our blue planet. For a week, a series
of activities will take place aiming to inform, educate, and demonstrate ways
to make the planet a better place. Ranging from games to Art
exhibits,"Green Week" ultimate goal is to bring the SMU community together
and working towards making our campus a greener place.
Students feel there are pressing global environmental problems and climate change is happening now, and they don’t know what they can do about it. Campus gardens provide an outlet for their broader environmental concern. It’s an individual action that they can take to help the environment and make a statement.
Plant small trees or flowers in the pathways
Have a group of students take care of the plants daily
Reward students for taking care of the plants
Have a garden on a roof or the balcony area in front of the library with organic plants

This project is very feasible as it focuses mostly on community engagement and small changes that could create major impact around the campus.
This project's budget is estimated to be between 50,000 TND and 250,000 TND (could vary) as the solar panels are the most expensive part of the project. And it is expected to reach the breakeven point within a few years of its completion.
