Heat Energy

  • The internal motion of atoms is called heat energy, because moving particles produce heat.

Heat

Energy

  • Heat energy can be produced by friction
  • Heat energy causes changes in temperature and phase of any form of matter.

Example 1:

This image transforms from chemical to thermal energy

Example 2:

  • The heat transfer from the sun to the earth is an example of heat energy

Example 3:

  • This shows thermal to mechanical which creates heat energy

Chemical Energy

  • Chemical energy is required to bond atoms together.
  • Fuel and food are forms of stored chemical energy.
  • When bonds are broken, energy is released.

Example 1

chemical energy is involved when we digest food in out stomachs

Example 2

A battery is an example of chemical energy because when the battery starts form chemical to electrical energy to enable charge

Example 3

During the photosynthesis, the energy from sunlight is converted into chemical energy

Electromagnetic

energy

  • Power lines carry electromagnetic energy into your home in the form of electricity.
  • Light is a form of electromagnetic energy.
  • Each color of light represents a different amount of electromagnetic energy.

Example one

  • An X-Ray is an example of electromagnetic energy.

Example two

  • Radio waves are an example of electromagnetic energy.

Example three

  • A laser light is an example of electromagnetic energy.

Example one

  • Nuclear explosion is an example of Nuclear energy.

Nuclear Energy

  • The nucleus of an atom is the source or nuclear energy

Example two

  • Nuclear fission is an example of Nuclear energy.
  • When the nucleus splits (fission), nuclear energy is released in the form of heat and light energy.
  • Nuclear energy is also released when nuclei collide at high speeds and join.
  • Nuclear energy is the most concentrated form or energy.

Example one

  • Using force to hammer the nail is an example of mechanical energy.

Mechanical Energy

Example two

  • When work is done to an object, it acquires energy. The energy it acquires is known as mechanical energy.
  • Kicking a soccer ball is an example of mechanical energy.

Example one

  • A compass uses the earth's magnetic field to show direction.

Magnetic Energy

Example two

  • Magnetic energy can be found in door buzzers, speakers, and of course magnets!

Example one

  • The sun is an example of light energy.

Light & Sound Energy

Sound Energy:

  • The squeezing of air molecules when an object vibrates.

Example two

  • An alarm clock is an examples of sound energy.

Light Energy:

  • Electromagnetic energy in heat waves.

Example one

Electrical Energy

Example two

  • Energy in electricity and electrical charged objects.
  • Electrical energy is produced by an electrical current.
