Socialization-the process by which persons are conditioned to the customs or norms and behavior patterns of a particular culture.

Agents of socialization- the people, groups , or institutions that influence an individual´s beliefs, attitudes, self-concepts, and behaviors.

There are many opportunities for education, but most believe that equal educational opportunity is more of a myth than a fact in our educational system. The myth of equal educational opportunity particularly evident when one examines differences in the educational achievement and attainment of socioeconomic groups, ethnic groups, racial groups, and males and females, as well as the challenges faced by students with disabilities and those who are learning English-language skills.
