Goal: Compare/contrast your topic with something else

Argue for or against the following...

  • Everyone should go through a similar experience to yours

  • It is better to avoid obstacles like the one you experienced.

Main Idea

  • Does your event remind you a well-known story?

  • How might someone typically react in your event? Was your response similar?

Take a moment to decide which

memory

you'd like to explore.

Associate it

Apply it

Goal: What does the subject make you think of?

Describe the subject's uses.

Cubing is a brainstorming strategy. With cubing, like with other brainstorming methods, you start with one topic, challenge or issue. Then, you apply six points of view (like the six sides of a cube) to the issue.

  • Try creating a metaphor to describe your issue or passion.

  • Does your event remind you of a character from a book or famous person?

Examples:

  • How did the event shape you?

  • If you were to summarize what's important about the event into a slogan that you could put on a t-shirt, what wouldit be?

Analyze it

Goal: Break the subject into parts. Tell how it works.

Examples:

  • Who are the main people involved? How did they interact?

  • What led up to the event?
