"Dutch Bros is a growing company with lots of growth opportunities! It's culture is very special and beautiful. When you come to work, you feel at home and surrounded by family!"
- An employee in HR
"You gain more than just a career, you gain a new family and friends. The work environment is ever changing , which is nice if you don't want to get too stuck in a routine. They definitely challenge me to be a better person and designer."
- An employee in Marketing
"It solely depends on what the person is looking for. A lot of people that I know with specific skills can get a higher paying job doing similar work elsewhere. So I can't really recommend DB when they're trying to start off with a larger salary."
- An employee in HR
"People can be standoffish if you're new, small towns tend to do that to people. It can be hard to find friends. Sometimes people are stuck in their own ways and their own friendships, it feels like high school."
- An employee
"Grants Pass is a tough place to move to and the culture is not for everyone."
- An employee in HR
"The culture, the passion and the vision!"
- An employee in Marketing
"The constant encouragement to grow both professionally and personally. I am a better person for working with Dutch Bros. I have been pushed to uncomfortable places, but it always ends up with me being a better more positive and healthier employee and all around human being."
- An employee
"The opportunity for advancement."
- An employee in Dutchwear
"Lack of clear direction and expectations."
- An employee in Finance
"More collaborative efforts. I'm more motivated when the plan is clearly laid out. "
- An employee
"It is hard to stay motivated when you don't feel like you are being compensated fairly (especially when you see similar jobs released within Dutch that have a much higher salary range.) When you feel like no matter how hard you work, your work will go unnoticed by anyone other than your team."
- An employee in Marketing
"I enjoy working with the travel team. I enjoy coming into work every day and trying to better our department and company. I also feel like Dutch genuinely cares about my home life."
- An employee
"The way that it serves my personal life as well. It makes it easy to enjoy every moment of my life. To travel with my family, enjoy my holidays, all while looking forward to coming to work everyday."
- An employee in Finance
"The great environment and undeniable growth within the company. There are so many positive signs that the company is moving and growing, while never compromising the incredible and loving culture within."
- An employee in IT
"Having leaders that are aligned with the direction being provided to the team. Having a VP that embraces and embodies the company values and culture."
- An employee in CRED
"It would be nice to not hear about how "bad" (substituted word) things were in the past for department processes or practices. It's very demeaning to the people that were in the dept. before and does not make for an enjoyable workplace."
- An employee in CRED
"Childcare. Flexibility to work remotely. More Vacation time."
- An employee in Marketing
"Community givebacks, any of them. Employee support and the true drive to help our employees become their best self."
- An employee in Finance
"Willingness to do something good for employees, even if it's not the cheapest option."
- An employee
"The culture seems to be disappearing. It doesn't feel like it's as much about the people as it used to be. Money seems to be of more importance."
- An employee in the MOB
"The culture will change because we're opening up so many stands within a short amount of time, I think we need to slow down. Also, people aren't allowed to become a "franchisee" anymore, only able to "look over" 5-10 stores. You killed so many hopes and dreams of people who want to franchise wherever they want and own as many as they want. "
- An employee in the MOB
"I believe that most are operating by strong values, but I feel like we go to Trav talks and he has so much powerful stuff to say and then its over and our manager doesn't up hold those same values"
- An employee
"I don't think cooperation is the thing lacking as much as communication- but I'm only speaking on my own experience in the marketing department."
- An employee in Dutchwear
"Every department needs to over communicate with everyone. Supervisors need to communicate with those they oversee so they can be in the loop and understand the situation or problem."
- An employee in Dutchwear
"There aren't clear paths of communication between any of the departments."
- An employee in HR
"Most of the marketing team as a whole. Often times, the overall vision of the finished product is too vague. I feel like if there were better efforts in the pre-production side of things, there would be far less revisions. "
- An employee in Marketing
"It is challenging sometimes in Finance, because other departments don't understand what we need and that the time frame in which we need it is crucial."
- An employee in Finance
"They are relaxed and inclusive of everyone's ideas to brainstorm."
- An employee in HR
"They are beginning to be very structured and purposeful."
- An employee
"Lack of structure and discipline. There are very few meetings here that start on time and have a clear objective. We often have to drive to another location to meet with people so, I want to make the most out of that investment in time and make it productive!"
- An employee
"I believe there could be more structure to our meetings. We have gotten way better in the last six months, but I would like us to go into meetings with specific topics and questions that need answers, and leaving with resolution. Sometimes we just talk for hours and nothing gets resolved. "
- An employee in Ppl. Dev.
"They are not always timely and others are distracted by their phone/other priorities while in a meeting."
- An employee
"Empowering me to make critical decisions to best serve our team and brand. Letting me grow and learn through real world experience."
- An employee in CRED
"Never lets me settle for where I am. He constantly pushes me to make myself uncomfortable because that's where all the growth is."
- An employee in the MOB
"They could be more well-informed/educated with the line of work in which I am involved, and develop workflows that take it into account."
- An employee
I don't know who that is.
- An employee
"Honestly, I am confused as who is managing now that Dylan has left, so I don't know how to answer that question."
- An employee in Dutchwear
"Professional development opportunities."
- An employee in HR
"They are clear about expectations and encouraging of growth opportunities."
- An employee in Marketing
"My manager is trusting, always has my back and is clear in her communication. I would literally do anything for her."
- An employee in Marketing
"They are supportive and listen to my concerns and set me up with appropriate tools and team members."
- An employee in HR
"Open and private communication on where I can grow and where I succeed. I need positive feedback as well as challenges."
- An employee
"I previously haven't really had a manager... Rick is my new manager and I'm excited to see what happens."
- An employee in Marketing
"Communicate and inform your team what the fuck is going on."
- An employee in Marketing
"Trusting my ability to do my job and giving me the proper tools to accomplish my role."
- An employee in Marketing
"My manager reaches out for one-on-one time frequently and really listens to what I say. I feel like I can go to my manager with anything and have an open and honest conversation."
- An employee in Marketing
"I cannot put this into words, but from what I can tell, my manager cares about cultivating a positive work environment and this seems to have been done by careful consideration in hiring, excellent communication with thte team and flexibility in scheduling when coworkers have work/life needs to attend to."
- An employee
"No fear of retaliation."
- An employee in HR
"Feeling like I wouldn't lose my job if I spoke up."
- An employee
"If I knew who it was."
- An employee
"Dutch is very involved with the community and invested in their customers."
- An employee in Dutchwear
"Dutch Bros does an incredible job about keeping the culture intact. It could be easy to lose that as we grow in size, but it's the top of all leadership's minds."
- An employee in Finance
"Dutch Bros does a great job of giving life lessons and leadership lessons to its employees. I love the amount of growth you can have with this company. I mean that both professionally and personally."
- An employee in the MOB
"I don't see proper checks and balance. I feel that there are specific departments that prefer to do things the fancy way not necessarily the most cost effective. From a finance standpoint -- The use of purchase orders to properly track expenses would be a large benefit. Having guidelines for travel costs and approval processes would also help to be more budget friendly."
- An employee
"I believe DB is in it's adolescence and is feeling some growing pains. That said, i think recent hires are a great step in creating a more efficient focused message and workplace. Once structures are in place, it's my hope leadership will take a hard look at the talents within the company and make sure people are in the right positions for both themselves and the future of DB"
- An employee in Marketing
"Senior managers are fairly transparent with goals and strategies. Our CEO personally engages with the entire HQ staff once per week. He often shares upcoming and current changes. My manager takes me for one-on-one meetings weekly to ensure I'm doing well."
- An employee in IT
"The Trav talks are awesome! I think singling out teams is a BIG deal and I encourage this to happen more often. Do no recognize the individual leaders of that team, but the people that make the leaders shine... This goes further than money and perks..."
- An employee in CRED
"My manager and I have meetings with our leaders to get a full download of what is happening, and then have time between just us to process that and puzzle out how it fits into the bigger picture."
- An employee in IT
"Favoritism. And turning a blind eye. Many coworkers feel irritated and not very motivated due to this, but everyone is too afraid to say anything, because we all need our jobs and don't trust our leader."
- An employee in Marketing
"Different behavioral expectations for employees in different departments makes employees feel uncertain, confused and sometimes resentful."
- An employee in HR
"There's tons of tension with the current marketing admins. There's tons of bashing and gossip. Leaders are influencing their team members with their negative views on the other leaders. It's frustrating to not have positive communication. The whole tone is very passive aggressive, secretive and unapproachable.
- An employee
"If effectively communicated, DB will listen to even the most extreme points of view. In order to maintain a high level of creativity, and spontaneity within the company, DB has adapted to allowing the most "crazy" of ideas to be shared during a moment of collaboration and never once have I witnessed or personally experienced being shamed for sharing a point of view. There are many cases where it is not as open as I have experienced, but I don't believe it to happen very often or around a large group of DB employees."
- An employee in IT
"No one feels silenced to bring up points of view and areas of concern. We are a team and encourage everyone to participate and be heard."
- An employee in people Dev.
"I think someone would be hesitant to share a different point of view in case their view point wouldn't be accepted or because sometimes there can be favoritism in the office."
- An employee in Marketing
"DB sees itself as a cultural leader. In the stands, I believe that is true. At HQ, there is something like a "safe group" of employees. They present themselves well in meetings and often have grand ideas, but when it comes to actually implementing them, they have very little to do with it. They also tend to throw people under the bus and it seems to me that they only care about protecting themselves and their relationship with the Boersmas."
- An employee in Marketing
"Retaliation from mid-level managers/supervisors."
- An employee in HR
"Everyone is open to hearing new ideas or approaches. Many of the company's employees, including senior leaders, have been lifelong DB staff, so their exposure to other ways of doing things is limited."
- An employee
"Through bringing your best self to the table every day, when a new idea is discussed and implemented if it makes sense."
- An employee in IT
"Just speak, and they listen."
- An employee
"A lack of market research. An assumption that we know who makes up our market."
- An employee
"New ideas might be good for more important people."
- An employee
"Too many loop holes to go through."
- An employee
"Honestly? Everything, and that's what they do. I feel like when big decisions have been made and things of that nature, we always know before the public, which I think is rad!"
- An employee in Dutchwear
"I think that being informed allows me to really feel like a part of the company and also helps me to put the decisions that I make in my job functions every day into the proper context."
- An employee
"It would be nice to understand why when a seemingly excellent employee is let go for an unknown reason. I think that can make other employees nervous, especially with such loosely defined expectations."
- An employee in IT
"What the heck is happening. We have a ton of new high level employees that have never met with the departments they oversee!"
- An employee Marketing
"The overall strategy and direction of the company. What my role is in supporting the strategy, mission and vision. Is what I'm doing creating value for others?"
- An employee HR
"Many things make me feel appreciated at DB. Flexibility to take care of my family when needed, lunch provided every day, family days and events, free coffee, the option to get outside and stretch our legs throughout the day, working with managers and coworkers who care, the list goes on and on!"
- An employee
"The treatment, the love and the understanding. Specifically, the managers efforts to help when something is not clear."
- An employee in HR
"The support form my manager is exceptional!"
- An employee in IT
"Having to self advocate for compensation, lack of communication for interdepartmental projects and expectations in areas of responsibility, and not being part of the 'bro club'."
- An employee
"Sometimes it seems as though it's 'all about who you know' small community with favoritism and little room for growth."
- An employee in the MOB
"I feel like I get overlooked a lot for opportunities to grow within the company, and when opportunities arise there is already a person in mind for the open position."
- An employee CRED
"Dutch Bros has always been a company that cares about YOU the person and not just the skill set you bring. We do work that matters and we make an impact on peoples lives and ther eis nothing more meaningful than that."
- An employee
"The fact that we are more than just a coffee business, we are a people business building those relationships and the fact that we are able to give back to others is just an amazing feeling."
- An employee in People Development
"Not having the team environment or HQ feel. Being apart from the other departments does have its perks, but it also makes you feel like an outcast. I want to feel that we bring value to the departments in the fact that we assist with all their travel needs, but we are not being utilized to our full abilities. I want other departments to see what we can do. I personally would like my work to be seen as a benefit that I have provided to properly accounting the department finances. "
- An employee
"I used to feel like I was apart of something bigger, building stands that provided compelling futures and impacted communities in a positive way. Now it feels like its about building stands to hit a number and revenue goal while trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, much more of a corporate vibe."
- An employee in CRED
"I feel empowered to really define my own position and explore new opportunities and experiences. I think that feeling will be enhanced if new leadership takes the time to do a full audit on the work being done so people who have growth potential are given new opportunities."
- An employee in Marketing
"Dutch Bros is always there every step of the way to ensure that I am successful! I always feel very free to be who I am and everyone here wants to see me succeed! All of this makes me want to work hard at everything I do!"
- An employee in Dutchwear
"Not clear communication, sometimes proximity helps with certain cases."
- An employee
"SMB tactics and space. We've really outgrown a lot of the systems and buildings we are currently using forcing many of us to work in less than optimal, unorganized and challenging mixed spaces. This is the biggest and most complex business a lot of us have ever been part of and it's hard to learn and grow fast enough but proper systems would allow many of us to perform at a much higher level. I think a lot of back-end stuff is overlooked and under appreciated because it's not flashy and fun, but we sacrifice a lot of efficiency and accuracy by not being more forward planning."
- An employee
"Constant restructuring and changing of jobs."
- An employee in People Development
"All the conventions we are able to attend."
- An employee
"My manager has encouraged outside specialized training and helped me set goals and timeline to reach those goals."
- An employee in IT
"The meeting we had with Lane PR about handling difficult customers was extremely beneficial for my current position."
- An employee in Customer Experience
"Would like to take some courses to further my skills in accounting."
- An employee in Finance
"Any education to improve my role and coaching/guidance for persons new to leadership positions with consistent training. We focus so much on growth outside of HQ, we lack internal focus."
- An employee
"Specific training/courses pertaining to our jobs."
- An employee in CRED
"Health care, 401k, salary."
- An employee in People Development
"We have a wonderful insurance plan that actually covers! It's nice to be able to go to the Dr. and not get hit with any unexpected fees."
- An employee in Customer Experience
"401k."
- An employee in CRED
"4% match on a fully vested 401k, and premium health care."
- An employee in People Development
"Most people don't have any so including something that would be beneficial to people. SO many people from Dutch left to Carvana because they had a benefit package and it was needed."
- An employee in the MOB
"A pay raise would be most valuable because I could achieve my goals of buying a house and supporting my family better."
- An employee
"DB offers extreme flexibility."
- An employee in HR
"Because it is so family oriented, they understand the importance of being able to be present for your family and personal life. They are appreciative of our time and help us be present in both work and personal commitments."
- An employee
"DB helps me keep a work and life balance by allowing me to bring my daughter to lunch at work to nurse her, to leave if I need to attend doctors appointments and by making work a fun place to be so we don't feel pressured to work hard but feel encouraged and motivated to do so."
- An employee in CRED
"I have the flexibility to take time off as needed"
- An employee
"Sometimes it's hard to see the Dutch Luv that is supposedly a pinnacle expectation from our broistas, why don't we uphold the same love here?"
- An employee
"We are still learning how to embody our culture at every level in all roles as we grow into a large scale company."
- An employee in HR
"Leadership in some areas has been more determined by personal relationships that ability. I want to be a good leader and to follow good leaders, so sometimes you have to switch your seat on the bus if you want to keep riding it."
- An employee
"THE PEOPLE. The people are so awesome and make work great! The company also empowers us and gives us all the tools we need to succeed. I couldn't be happier with my career."
- An employee in Marketing
"Having my opinion carry weight. I feel as though yes, I have done everything in my power to earn that, but it still feels as though I am valued beyond what I ever envisioned."
- An employee in IT
"There is a real sense of community. I know that if things were to go bad in my life outside of work there would be people here ready and willing to help me any way they could."
- An employee in Marketing
