Bible Passage: Gen. 1:1, 31; Isaiah 53:4-5; 2 Cor. 4:17; 2 Peter 3:9; Rev. 21:4

Introduction

So if God is good and almighty, why doesn't he end all the bad things in this world?

A. God created a good world

Point #1

  • "In the beginning God created...." (Genesis 1)
  • God created everything perfect but was spoiled by the disobedience of man.
  • Sin & rebellion against God resulted in pain and suffering.
  • Effect: bring imbalance, famine, earthquakes, diseases, and many other evils
  • Examples:
  • Lucifer (Isaiah 14:19,20; Ezekiel 28:12-19)
  • Adam & Eve (Genesis 3)

B. Sin & Disobedience introduced suffering

A. God manifests his love over evil

Point #2

  • God is not surprised by the presence of evil and sin in the world.
  • He has designed a plan to use evil and suffering for a higher purpose.
  • Example:
  • Jesus Christ
  • Through Him we receive redemption, restoration, and eternal life
  • Acts 4:27,28; Isaiah 53
  • God allows many things to happen in our lives, both good and bad; some make sense and others don't. (John 9:1-3; Romans 8:28)
  • Example:
  • Joseph (Genesis 45:5-8)
