IEEE DTU
IEEE DTU WIE has always believed that by spreading knowledge we empower one another.
Carrying this thought forward, we organized a Community Outreach Program in a government school in Rohini, Delhi. We taught basic electronics to students of grades 11th and 12th which would be helpful to them in their studies. We also made them aware about the various types of engineering so that they make an informed career decision. We encouraged the few girls in the science section to take up science and engineering and believe in their talent and skills.
It was organized in the Bawana region of New Delhi. We taught young girls basic computer skills. Through a course of around 10 sessions, we motivated the young girls, many of whom were deprived of an opportunity to get higher education to believe in their talent and have the courage to follow their professional dreams. There were about 30-40 girls in the center and they gained a lot from our sessions on basic computer skills. Many of them were planning to put this knowledge to use by setting up small
businesses.
