The Steelers were actually the pirates before art Rooney changed the name to Steelers.
The Steelers didn't win a championship until 1975!
WWII
WWII really effected the steelers with all of their players going off to war and even when the war was over few of the players made it back.

With the war going on the steelers were forced to merge with the Philadelphia Eagles to create the steagles

The steelers won their next two super bowls in the 2000s
