Adele Case Study Map~

Social

  • Adele begins to show expressively her enjoyment of certain things such as music and art. (1.2 Conflict Resolution and Social Problem Solving Skills.)
  • She gets very engaged during her "small group time." expressing her talents and love of making crafts with different materials. ( 1.5 Interacting Positively and Respectfully.)

Relations

  • Will talk in first person and loves her bunny Mr.Bun Bun.
  • She thrives outdoors and enjoys playing outside the classroom.
  • Socially she started out as a shy girl who did not socialize but once in Kindergarten, her social skills have improved.
  • She also speaks to this one ECE worker who she trusts and socializes with .

Physical Domain

Physical

  • Adele enjoys any activity that involves gross motor skills, i.e. running around. (5.2 Gross Motor Skills)
  • She shows potential in forms of sport by enjoying activities that involve gross motor skills, like running, hopping, throwing things (.i.e. balls, frisbees, paper airplanes, etc.)

  • She enjoys music, therefore musically she is moving to the beat where she can dance around freely and happily.

Strengths - Physical Development

  • She demonstrates good focus when it comes to activities that boast her favourite thing, to be creative. Anything that has to do with art and music seems to gain Adele's attentioin.

  • She loves to sing and dance and demonstrates her outgoing side whilst she is enjoying herself musically and creatively.

  • She begins to express her feelings through her art.
  • She is sustaining her socio-dramatic play with her growing language.
  • She may be only 4 years old but as her speech analyst has mentioned, she can speak up to 600 words into her vocabulary.
  • With her current word bank, her development in her language and in expressing her emotions are on to a good start.

  • Adele enjoys reading books and looking at picture books with no words in them.
  • This will help with learning to read and to comprehend literacy.
  • Using all senses to gather information while observing is a key skill obtained from engaging with books,articles, magazines, etc.

  • At the beginning Adele was very introvert like and preferred to play quietly alone before she had entered elementary school.
  • As she got older she enjoyed playing small groups to play with. This shows that she able to get to sped eventually with speech development as she aged and moved to a new environment that she has yet to be use to.
  • She has obtained a vocabulary of 600 words to date with that it shows that she has lots of room to improve her potential in her speech development.

  • Adele is 4 years old, at the beginning she use to be more of a quiet individual who did not speak as often as a young child. She would hand sign and gesture to communicate.
  • Now that she has entered elementary, she has stopped signing and begins speaking more over motion and gesturing.
  • She loves to now sing in front of others and share her creative talents.

Family History

Family

  • Adele's birth mother had drank and smoked and had a history of hearing loss and vision loss within her family line.
  • She had not gained any negative traits, or shown any evidence for any issues for the future, thus far.
  • Her current family is very protective of her well-being and show alot of compassion and love to Adele.

Emotional Domain

Emotional

  • At the beginning of her child care classes, Adele was very slow and had troubles controlling her emotions and managing/controlling her stress.
  • When she got upset or didnt know how to resolve a current issue she "sits down and puts her head on the ground and cries silently" to react to her stresssed emotions.
  • As she has been currently expressing her emotions more vibrantly, she has gotten closer relationships and has begone to become more open with other children around her.
  • Whenever she is feeling distressed she knows to whom will comfort her best, the one ECE worker who she trusts and is fond of.

  • Adele has come to identify her emotions, she knows when and why she has gotten upset or why she feels are certain way.
  • She understands about communicating by emotions builds bonds and relationships.

  • She is a cautious and careful child and becomes aware of her surroundings.
  • Her skills in focusing on a task at hand is well mentioned and is something that will most likely help her to develop a better way to improve her knowledge of different things in the world.
