Speech to the
Women’s Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio, 1851
Sojourner Truth speaks about women’s rights. She compares the work she has done with the work that men do, and comes up with the conclusion that they both do the same. Sojourner argues that women are not given their rights out of fear that they may take more than is given to them. She also argues that if Eve caused man to sin. Why can't women be given the chance to fix their mistake. Sojourner ends with telling men that women are coming up with God because of all of the gifts they bring the earth, and only a few men are coming up with them.

They use allusion in the speech when they refer back to the bible multiple times. “I have heard the bible and have learned that Eve caused man to sin.”
Imagery when they talk of men and women's intellect “if woman have a pint and man a quart- why can't she have her little pint full?”
