These theorist embrace classical and operant conditioning. For example, if a toddler was misbehaving in the store, you might suggest something they prefer to get the desired behavior.
These theorist support the stance that "emotional development is influenced by tensions between internal desires and impulses and the demands of the outside world." (Trawick-Smith, 1997, p. 50). As a result, children flourish into balanced adults.
Freud focused on the id, ego, and superego systems and Erickson targeted eight stages of emotional development that starts from birth to older adulthood.

Many people support each theory for varieous reason but it is evident that all theories can be critique because they can't fully address the whole development of children. I presume that it would be beneficial to utilize and eclectic approah of the theories to help children develop in a balanced way.
