The Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

In June 1914 Franz Ferdinand ( the heir presumptive to the Austrian- Hungarian Empire) and his wife traveled to Bosnia for a state visit. But their driver took the wrong turn into Josephs Street where Franz Ferdinand and his wife were killed. Now Austria- Hungarian lost another heir. Franz Ferdinand and his wife where killed by Gavrilo Princip a member of a young Bosnian Serb nationalist. Austria blamed Serbia that they where the ones who worked with the group so-called " Black hand" and handed gavrilo Princip (and his other members) weapons to kill Franz Ferdinand. Now for this assassination Austria- Hungary declared war on Serbia.

After the assassination of Franz Ferdinand Austria- Hungary blamed and declared war on Serbia. both of them brought their allies which declared war on each other and so on with their other other allies. On that summer of 1914 all powers in the western world walked into the first world war.

Battle of Tannenberg

On the first month of WW1 the battle of Tannenberg was fought between Russia ( 2nd army) and Germany ( 8th army). The battle only lasted for four days but over 50,000 Russian soldiers have died and 92,000 have been taken as prisoners after Germany's surprise attack.

The First Battle of the Marne

September 6 - 12, 1914

The battle of Marne was battle between the French army and British expeditionary force against Germany's army. The battle was fought on the Northeastern of Paris and it was the beginning of the trench warfare after Germany stormed Belgium on August 3, 1914 and tried to attack Paris. Belgium, France and British armies stopped Germany and forced them to draw back.

The Germans named The western front to some series of trenches and were 700 kilometers long from the Swiss border to the Belgian coast. It was the principal theatre of fighting in the war. The western front settled into a stalemate because of the power of Germany defensive weapons was stronger than other offensive methods.

Mustard Gas

The mustard gas was a deadly gas that Germans introduced in the 1917. The Mustard gas Killed thousands of people, it made people itch uncontrollably, blistered the skin, eyes, lungs, some even started coughing up blood. And because the skin absorbed the gas it was useless to use a gas mask.

Machine Gun

The machine gun was invented in 1884 and was used in the ww1 because soldiers could shoot a lot of ammo in a minute.

U - Boat

The u - boat was invented on the first of February 1851. It was used by the Germans to sink boats.

Attack of Gallipoli Peninsula

The battle of Gallipoli started because of the intentions of the gallipoli campaign. The intentions were to force the German allies,Turkey, out of the war so world war 1 could end, but it was a total failed. Turkey ended up wounding and killing 187,959 persons of the gallipoli people, making that the greatest victory of the Turks in war. The allied powers were very strong.

Sinking of the Lusitania

In world war 1, the Sinking of the Lusitania was important because of the death of so many innocent civilians. The death of so many people by German U-boat, caused outrage in many countries of the world. The support for the Allies against the German grew in many countries including the united States, who later joined the allies in he war against german. but out of 159 Americans on boat the ship, only 31 survived several children who were on boat died as well.

The battle of the Somme was 141 days of terror. This war was against German and it started in France. It was a interesting and important battle in world war 1 because they weakened the German army and that helped the other Allies to take their land back.

The declaration of war from Germany to Russia caused such a strong union amongst the Russia nation. But, Russia after being defeated several times, Russia suffered shortage of supplies, including food and habitation.

German had such a strong army to fight the war that they were taking a very large advantage of that, they did not respect some agreements that they had with America and because of that president Woodrow Wilson decided to get America into war.

The America going to war caused a big impact because after that, woman started to had the right to vote and more equal rights.

Armistice

The Armistice did not end world war 1 itself but it was parts of it, Armistice was the ceasefire that ended hostilities between allies and Germany. After all, the Allies (Britain, France, US) won world war 1 and German lost.
