in some mind maps i used a green arrow to connect concepts and ideas
- mental health and trauma are important to the ideal of feminism and masculinity and how they are connected and protrayed differently in society could labeled and shamed for not following the norm.
- men and women are faced with shame from the same/opposite gender. tey also recieve shame from the healthcare system when coming in for taboo things like being raped or tested for other dieseases or trying to seek help.
- talking about or dealing with mental health comes with its stigma's and ssues that once brought up are not forgotten, instead they are parraded around society. presently its being taken more seriously and every facet of society is taking a more serious approach on how to deal and approach it which is good but but i know that more coud be done for everyone to which we listen to everyone and not ignore or choose not to understand whats troubling some one and help them find a solution together and make them not feel alone.
Masculinity and "male feminism" and feminism are connected throught the gender stereotypes that are created by the fluidity of society and the ever changing concept of gender and how its represented and percieved in the minds of the genders.
-this is a important topic because it relates to female identity and how men relate to women and their identity and how they see women should dress.
- men and womens ideas about each other are so heality affected by each other that their sense of identity are lost and are in conflict and trying to understand the ever changing world we live in which creates power struggles and a negative mindset of sha, ming those who you do not agree with their life choices.
- sexuality also plays a part in creating frindships and relationships and how they associate to the different groups in socity. it also plays a part in the workplace and affects how and where they are placed and if they can advance in their careers
Gender equality is a big issue right now and im learning that women and men have to each fight for their equality in their lives across the different facets and groups in society. depending on the type of society they are talking to or dealing with.
for me i feel like i have to fight for gender equality in the sense to beat the stereotype that all guys are mean and rude. im trying to beat the mold and show that true gentleman are still in the world but its quite hard because most people do not think you can just be nice. they think instead that the person is trying to get something from someone.
Gender equality
Gender norms
Gender norms are tough for both genders because the norms were created such a long time ago and society was structured around these norms that it presently difficult for men and women to break the mold and not follw what has been set up for years.
i feel like like for me that the male gender norm of being big, tough, quiet, strong, supportive, etc. is very tough because of societies contraints that i have to do my own thing but then i am labled as strange or odd and i feel like i have to conform or i will not be accepted which is awful and unfair not only for me but for both women and men because womens genger norm of being, kind, caring, strong, supportive, being a housewife, caregiver is exhausting as well and impossible to keep up in the long run.
-these stereotypes for me are tough because i feel like once pople see me then they will categorize me into certain brackets that may not be true and create a fake profile about me withnot not knowing who i truly am and what i stand for. i feel the same thing happens for other men and women and its frustrating when we are told be ourselves but o matter what we do we are still categorized into groups that we may not belong to.
individuality is important to anyone because knowing who you are and being comfortable with who you are shows confidence in ones self and where they are situated in the world
schools as we discussed crush individuality instead of inspiring it. women are forced to join cliques and groups to fit or stand out or they are forgetten and exiled which destroys a womens spirit and growth.
- i feel like for me my individuality is a daily battle because everyone only sees my outside appearance and does not take the time to see how different i am from everyone else. honestly everyone should be given the time of day to explain who thry are and why they are the way they are.
- lifestyles and lifestyle standards have changed overtime but they have created a standard for both genders to maintain or they are seen as idifferent and out of the norm.
- women and men have their "perfect' lifestyles protrayed all over the tv and scoal media that they must maintain and its always changing on the week depending on the colour or sense of style that has changed every generation or is brought back in style. every facet of life have different sense of styles which creates competition and value to ones life and creates and challenges another members status in society creating a negative mindset only thinking about "i" instead of the collective we and wanting to help and support each other. we instead shame and degrade others to make ourselves feel better.
- motherhood/ fatherhood and parenting are important staples to life that define and mold each generation and how it chooses to look at life and society and controls the future.
- in this clas we have seen and talked about how different parenting styles that affect the growth of the youth and we as a society have narrowed down a parenting style that helps produce healthy, and happy children. however not every parent or anyone is ready or knows what having a child and the responsibility that comes with it.
- however society also plays a role in how parenting from both genders should be which create a mold that not everyone can keep up to or maintain though a lifetime which then burns out the parents and creates issues for the whole family structure and its growth.
- mothers and fathers have their roles and they are not "supposed" to step out of those roles but society is starting to evolve and change and adapt these roles and the gender roles are there but they do not hold the standard as much as they used to
- through this class i have discovered that the health care system does not support women or recognize women. in class we heard several testimonies regarding women and their treatment in hospitals or reciving the care or medication they need
- i think the healthcare system needs a major haul on how it not only treats its patients but its workers nd keep them from burning out and getting frustrated
- both men and women i feel are struggling to get the care they need becauethe system is skewed in ways to support those in ceretain circumstances
- education on women and woomens history is extensive ye society still mistreats and mis understands women and what they need.
- during this class i have learned from the expierences shared in class on how much women are not being supported and what ways we could improve when we listen and are attentive.
- i wish there were more classes just bsed on discussion where we hear more first hand expierences from women so we as a society can try to change adapt our current pratices and methods so women feel more appreciated. its important to encourage each other to keep pushing and striving for the best they can do no matter the result.
- i also feel that if we had more education on genders and how we can learn more about men and women and gender identies and not to disrespect each other
- i also feel like more educational opportunties for men and women will help people change their mindest and situation and possibly start a new chsange in the persons life and a new motivation to do something new and create new ideas and find other ways to solve present issues and create more opportunties for everyone to succeed in their lives
