Intransitive verb

It does not direct action toward

someone or something named

in the same sentence.

Finite verb

A finite verb makes an assertion or expresses a state of being, and can stand

by itself as the main verb of a sentence.

Non-Finite verb

A non-finite verb is a verb that cannot

be main verbs by themselves.

Transitive verb

An action verb is transitive if it directs action toward someone or something named in the same sentence.

Linking verb

A verb that connects a noun or a pronoun at or near the beginning of a sentence with a word at or near the end.

Helping verb

Verbs that can be added to another verb to make a single verb phrase.
