Battle of Trenton and Princeton

About

The battles of Trenton and Princeton were led by George Washington against the British. George Washington led his troops (the Continental Army) to victories in the harsh, cold winters of Delaware and New Jersey. Both battles happened between days of each other. On December 26, 1776, Washington and his troops defeated the unprepared Hessians who allied with the British. On January 3,1777, General Cornwallis sent out British troops ahead to Trenton when he got reports that Washington was approaching. At Assunpink, Washington created a stronghold. Washington continued to Princeton and fought the British army stationed there.
