It is defined as a tourism activity, community owned and operated, and managed or coordinated at the community level that contributes to the well-being of communities through supporting sustainable livelihoods and protecting valued socio-cultural traditions and natural and cultural heritage resources (ASEAN Community Based Tourism Standard, 2016).

Why SAN JOSE?

Objectives of TSU CBTC TARLAC

Capacitate local residents of the Municipality of San Jose in the planning, implementation, and monitoring or the total management of their community’s tourism development towards sustainability;

Imbue among the local residents and other stakeholders the understanding and appreciation of the local culture and arts of the Tarlaqueños.

Establish partnerships with National Commission for Culture and Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Provincial Tourism Office of Tarlac, DTI Tarlac, DENR, Provincial Government of Tarlac, and the local government unit of San Jose;

Promote the culture, local wonders, and products of San Jose through short term courses for international students on (1) the use of English as an International Language; (2) understanding and investigation of environmental issues; (3) food industry management; (4) capability training and youth leadership; (5) greening the environment through architectural design; (6) management of environmental aesthetics; (7) entrepreneurship and hospitality management; (8) environmental engineering; and (9) human rights and environmental rights;
