Dlaczego mam dowodzić, iż mam prawo głosu? Jestem, człowiekiem, obywatelką państwa, nie żyję z jałmużny, nie należę do klasy zbrodniarzy - oto są wszystkie dowody, jakie potrzebuję przedstawić dla poparcia swego żądania. Mężczyzna, ażeby posiadać prawo głosu, musi mieć pewien określony wiek, określoną sumę dochodów, musi płacić określoną sumę podatków - dlaczegoż kobieta potrzebuje czegoś więcej jeszcze? Dlaczego stawiana jest na równi z idiotami i zbrodniarzami? Nie, nawet nie zbrodniarzami, bo ci na ograniczony czas tracą swoje prawa polityczne. Tylko kobieta i człowiek upośledzony na umyśle należą do jednej i tej samej kategorii politycznej.
