“I Love to Tell the Story” and never even mention it in our workplace.

“Cast Thy Burdens on the Lord” and worry ourselves sick when bills pile up.

“O Day of Rest and Gladness,” and wait impatiently for the sun to go down.

“Crown Him with Many Crowns,” and adorn our bodies for display.

“We’re Marching to Zion,” and fail to march to church.

“Give me the Bible,” and fail to study it.

“Have Thine Own Way, Lord,” and then decide for ourselves anyway.

3-Month Fourfold

Develop an active prayer life by praying for 3 minutes every hour. Pray about every thing, big or small. (1 Thess. 5:17)

Imitate one act of Jesus’s kindness at least every three (3) days. (James 1:17)

Read the the gospels in this order: John, Luke, Matthew, and Mark in at least two versions/translations. A Bible journal is a great tool. (Luke 6:46)

3-month Fourfold Imitation of Christ

Keep a private blog or electronic journal. Every night, include three (3) actions or behaviors you’ve done for the day that you don’t want to do ever again. Then pray for forgiveness and talk to Jesus to give you empowerment. (Mark 14:13-20)

“He who would achieve true success in life must keep steadily in view the aim worthy of his endeavor. Such an aim is set before the youth of today. The heaven-appointed purpose of giving the gospel to the world in this generation is the noblest that can appeal to any human being. It opens a field of effort to everyone whose heart Christ has touched.” (Education, 262).

Profession or Vocation?

1. If you do it only because you’re good at it, it is a job. If you are doing it even when it involves difficulties, it is a calling.

2. If you do it just enough to get by, it is a job. If you do it to the best of your ability, it is a calling.

3. If you quit because someone criticized you, it was a job. If you have kept serving in spite of it, it is a calling.

Profession or Vocation?

4. If you quit because no one praised you, it was a job. If you do even the seemingly unimportant tasks, it is a calling.

5. If your concern is just career advancement, it is a job. If your concern is advancing the gospel, it is a calling.

6. People say, “Good job,” when you do your job well. The Lord says, “Well done,” when you complete your calling and ministry.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

What is a Calling?

Calling

Romans 1:1 “Paul, a doulos of Christ Jesus, kaleo to be an apostle, and aporizo for the gospel of God.”
