Introduction

This exquisite ,extraordinary lizard ,which is a jaw-dropping animal ,has been able to become the rulers of the animal kingdom. They learnt to adapt to different enviroments through out the whole globe. Over 4000 types of lizards have been discovered by scientists. Scientists have provided proof that the Galapagos Marine Iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatis) are the best lizards due to their impressive adaptations.

How can The Galapagos Marine Iguana Be Identified?

Their sombre, muted scales which turn into red; jagged, spiky scales on their back and piercing eyes: these are the unique features of the Galapagos Marine Iguana. Another outstanding attribute is their long claws,which help the to grip on slippery rocks. This phenomenal creature can grow up to 1.7 meters and it whips its tail to help it swim. Furthermore, they can camouflage, which helps them to hide from predators, (Birds of Prey) and catch prey.

The Galapagos Marine Iguana, who are a distinctive lizard, have the ability to swim. These lizards are not an agile species, on the other hand they are the best swimmers in the Galapagos. These lizards are always gliding through the ocean foraging for algae. The adult lizard go out to the ocean to rip the algae, at that second their babies go eat the algae exposed at the rocks. Phenomenaly, the adults can dive for up to 10 minutes before their muscles seize, they have small, sharp teeth to nibble on slippery algae.
