WEARING THE ARMY CADET UNIFORM

TP 1 - Head dress

TP 1

The Army Cadet beret shall be worn as follows:

• The beret is placed evenly on the head with the sweat-band 2.5 cm above the eyebrows;

• The badge is centered over the left eye;

• The crown of the beret is pulled downward to the right and rear; and

• Drawstrings are tacked inside the gap of the sweat-band.

Beret Insignia

Insignia shall be worn on the beret centered on the built-in backplate with the base of the badge 1 cm above the band. For highland dress, the badge can be centered on the built-in backplate of the left side of the Glengarry, Balmoral or Caubeen.

Tilley : The wide brimmed tan summer hat may be worn during summer activities for which the wedge is unsuitable

Jacket

- Worn fully buttoned with the exception of the top button

- Shall be kept clean and pressed.

- Sleeves of the tunic shall be roll pressed with no creases

- Belt shall be worn so as the excess of the belt (max 8cm), once attached, is on the left side of the buckle

Parka

- Worn year round when weather conditions dictates

- Liner and the exterior jacket may be worn as a set.

- Rank slip-ons shall be worn on both.

Nametag

- Buckle is centered and the ends are “brass on brass” (belt may need to be adjusted in order for this to occur)

- Shall be worn as directed by the corps or CTC

Polishing Boots

TP 4 - Footwear

General Guidelines

- Welts of the boot are to be cleaned

- Polish cloth wrapped around the index finger

- Apply a moderate amount of polish to the cloth.

- Apply the polish in a circular motion to the area being polished

- Start with large circles to cover the area with polish

- Use smaller circles as the polish gets worked into the boot

- Whole boot is to be polished, not just the toe

Boots

- Laced horizontally from side to side

- Ends of the laces are to be tucked inside the boot

- Shall be worn on both sleeves of the jacket only

- Top of the badge should be on the seam.

Ranks

- Worn centered on both sleeves of the tunic

Tattoos/Piercings/make-up

- Shall not acquire visible tattoos that could be deemed to be offensive

- In dress uniform Cadets may only wear single or single set of earings in ear lobe or spacer less than 2.5cm across (no visible body piecings or tongue)

-minimal make-up and nail polish is accepted

Accessories

- Will be carried in the left arm and the left arm will not move when marching

- Backpacks are to be of conservative nature

Eyeglasses/Sunglasses

- Shall be conservative in design and color

Hair

Hair that extends below the service dress jacket collar shall be secured in one of the following styles:

- In a bun; or

- A single braid; or

- Double braids centred to the back; or

- Multi braids, or locks, be pulled back to the centre of the back or equally positioned along the shoulder blades and secured; or

- When hairstyle, or hair type, does not allow a member to adopt one of the aforementioned hairstyles, member must discuss with the Chain of Command to find a hairstyle that can be secured accordingly.

Hair

General Appearance

- All cadets with or without uniform will be well groomed (checked over)

- Those in uniform will have clean, pressed and boots will be clean and shone.

- No electronic device shall be worn

- Pockets are also not to bulge

Jewellery;

Rings: a maximum of two rings which are not of a costume jewellery nature. Additional rings may only be worn when they indicate professional standing, such as an engineer, or are worn with a wedding band as a single set indicating betrothal or fidelity, e.g., an engagement or an anniversary ring. gloves;

Necklaces and bracelets: shall not be visible;
