We decided to use chapter 1.6 & 2.1 to create this CBA presentation for our SPHE class;
We feel like it's important to take care of youself mentally and physically, but can being physically healthy improve your mental health? Well yes it can!
Here's how:
By definition; The WHO (World Health Organision) states that; Being Healthy Is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being"
Which means to be "healthy", you have to be in a good state of: physical, mental and social well-being.
This is all difficult to accompish in now-a-day times, because of our surroundings and common friends, family and fellow humans.
People judge the most simplistic things and it's hard to ignore them. But if you're in a good state of health it's easier to ignore
We can incorporate many factors to become physically healthy; for example: working out, eating a balanced diet, etc.
But what can be done to be mentally healthy and physically healthy all at once?
• Just 30 minutes of walking every day can help boost your mood and improve your health
• Small amounts of exercise add up, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t do 30 minutes at one time.
• When you exercise, your brain produces endorphins and pumps these feel-good chemicals around your body. Therefore, most people experience feelings of happiness after exercise.
• A balanced diet and plenty of water can improve your energy and focus throughout the day.
• limit caffeinated beverages such as soft drinks or coffee.
• A balanced diet is one that includes healthy amounts of protein, essential fats, complex carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water. The food we eat can influence the development, management and prevention of numerous mental health conditions including depression and dementia.
• Stick to a schedule, and make sure you’re getting enough sleep.
• Blue light from devices and screens can make it harder to fall asleep, so reduce blue light exposure from your phone or computer before bedtime.
• Relax everything in your body, it helps you sleep faster and achieve the goals of a regular sleep pattern.
• Explore relaxation or wellness programs or apps, which may incorporate meditation, muscle relaxation, or breathing exercises.
• Schedule regular times for these and other healthy activities you enjoy such as journaling.
• Decide what must get done now and what can wait. Learn to say “no” to new tasks if you start to feel like you’re taking on too much.
• Don’t do everything you want at once, that can stress you out a lot, focus on one goal; that could help you get to the next!
• Try to be mindful of what you have accomplished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do.
• Remind yourself daily of things you are grateful for.
• Be specific. Write them down at night or replay them in your mind.
• Identify and challenge your negative and unhelpful thoughts.
• Look at the good things in life that happen, the chances of you being born/yourself are 1:400 Trillion!
• Which is mind and body practice where you learn to focus your attention and awareness. There are many types, including mindfulness meditation and transcendental meditation. Meditation usually involves
• A quiet location with as few distractions as possible
• A specific, comfortable posture. This could be sitting, lying down, walking, or another position.
• A focus of attention, such as a specially chosen word or set of words, an object, or your breathing
• An open attitude, where you try to let distractions come and go naturally without judging them
• Consult with your dietitian
• You must consulate with your dietitian because he can help you to balance the food and improve your exercises at the gym if you need help with this.
You must take care of yourself physically and mentally. Maintaining good health and wellbeing will improve your quality of life and lower your risk of developing health issues. Physical and emotional health are closley connected and improving your metal health should have a possitive effect on your mental wellbeing. These tips should help you feel better, both physically and mentally.
