Something surprising?

Something that surprised me was that Polk was known as a “workaholic,” and some historians believe that working too hard contributed to his early death.

Ideology

Believed in manifest destiny–the belief that the United States was fated to expand across the North American continent

Huge beleiver in expansion and getting califorina

The manifest destiny was also one of his reasons for becoming president

If I was in this time period I wouldnt be able to vote because I'D be a slave. If I was free I would not have voted for Polk as he supported slavery.

-Probably the biggest controversies during the Presidency of Polk was Polk began the war with mexico on questionable grounds.

The first was on whether on not Polk could send the Army to Mexico in the first place, or whether he needed Congressional approval to do so. The next issue would be if the army that Polk sent had proper cause to enter Mexico once they were there.

It's speculated that the strain of war effots lead to Polk's death
