  • Walter Pater's Studies in the History of the Renaissance and Marius the Epicurean were immediatly succesfull especially with the young.

Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde was the most important author of decadentism. He was an English writer who during his lifetime was influenced by Walter Pater. His most famous work of decadentism is "the picture of Dorian Gray" because in this novel we have a beautiful young boy who will put his beauty in front of everything and everyone, so he will make a deal with the devil to stay young and beautiful forever.
