We often neglect the idea of women, even in a respectful unit of force, to be sexually harassed and looked down on.
Media Analysis
Many say that they had learned to adjust to their male counterparts, or expected it to come with the job.
But when one female police officer messes up (or says something) then all the females there are to blame.
And then when one female officer does well at her job then she becomes “accepted” by her male counterparts- but not all females.
However, the conviction rates have decreased. Despite the almost 10% jump in reports between 2016 and 2017, conviction rates have decreased from 4.2 percent to 4 percent during the same time period and convictions dropped from 413 in 2015 to 281 last year, according to SWAN.
“It’s partly because of the gender ratio, more men in the working environment and sexual politics, so the idea that women are encroaching into areas that men have a monopoly over.”
