The Qalupalik story comes from the Inuit tribe. Qalupaliks were
said to carry Amauntiks(a back pack used to carry small
children) to snatch small children and carry them in the Amauntiks.
The Qalupalik has a rounded head with a squished down
nose. It's skin is blue with bright yellow eyes. It has long,
black hair and webbed hands and feet. It has scales like
fish along its body and gills where their ears would be. They have long, boney fingers with long sharp nails. They
have a fur type robe that they wear around them with a
rope holding it in place and a tail with the end falling
apart like a flag after war.
The Qalupalik kidnaps misbehaving children in
its amautik, which looks similar to a parka, and
drowns them in the icy waters of Nunavut Canada. This means that it resists the frigid cold
of the area, and also most likely breathe under
water.
The Qalupalik wears an amauntik a pouch that carry's children
then drowns them into water.
We think folklore monster was used to scare kids away from
the water so that they wouldn't be in danger. The moral lesson
this myth was told was to keep people safe.
