TYPES OF DEMOCRACY

THERE ARE 8 TYPES OF DEMOCRACY NAMELY: Direct, Representative, Presidential, Parliamentary, Authoritarian,

Participatory, Islamic, and Social Democracy.

TYPES

DIRECT

DIRECT

A direct democracy is a form of government in which all laws are created or abolished by a direct vote of the citizens. This would mean that everything from a change in speed limit on the state highways, to the guilt or innocence of someone being tried for a crime, would be put to a direct vote by the people, rather than their representatives.

REPRESENTATIVE

REPRESENTATIVE

A representative democracy is a system where citizens of a country vote for government representatives to handle legislation and ruling the country on their behalf.

PRESIDENTIAL

A presidential system is a democratic and republican system of government where a head of government leads an executive branch that is separate from the legislative branch. ... In presidential countries, the executive is elected and is not responsible to the legislature, which cannot in normal circumstances dismiss it.

PRESIDENTIAL

PARLIAMENTARY

Parliamentary democracy, democratic form of government in which the party (or a coalition of parties) with the greatest representation in the parliament (legislature) forms the government, its leader becoming prime minister or chancellor

AUTHORITARIAN

An authoritarian form of government is one where the population is disconnected from the selection of their leaders; it's the broad category under which totalitarianism lies (among other forms of government). Authoritarianism is also broadly aligned with (go figure) centralized authority and a lack of political freedoms.

AUTHORITARIAN

PARTICIPATORY

individual participation by citizens in political decisions and policies that affect their lives, especially directly rather than through elected representatives

PARTICIPATORY

ISLAMIC

ISLAMIC

Islamic democracy is a political ideology that seeks to apply Islamic principles to public policy within a democratic framework.
