Original Purpose
- the purpose of a sarcophagus was to protect the body and prevent deterioration and mutilation
- they were used as preparation for rebirth after death
- were abe to house their Ka and Ba, their soul and spirit
Technical Qualities
- traditionally were made wood or metal enclosed in stone
- royalty would often have a sarcophagus made of silver or gold

symbolic Qualities
- in the middle I included the protection goddess Nekhbet
- she symbolized protection in the afterlife
- the colour blue symbolizes rebirth
- the colour red was considered to be protective

Colour-the colours are very metallic and they are slightly brighter on the bottom
Line-used long, short, thin, straight and curved lines
Shape-geometric shapes like squares and triangles
Balance-both sides are symmetrical
Pattern-triangular pattern on the bottom and around the neck
Contrast-between the dark black and the gold
Emphasis-placed on the winged goddess in the middle and the hieroglyphics

- had to experiment with colours to make sure they matched with the time period
Most Successful Part
- the bottom half of the sarcophagus was the most successful part
- very neat and detailed
- the colours pop more than the top

- the least successful part of my sarcophagus was the back
- looks very empty

Changes
- If I had to do this project again, I would try to smooth out the plaster more while making it so that the paint would go on easier
- also add more details to the back
