FLAPS AND SLATS

-Increase lift and drag of airplane during takeoff and landing.

-Adjust the angle of attack of the wings to increase airplane lift during takeoff and landing.

EXTERNAL PARTS OF THE AIRPLANE

DOORS / OVERWING EXITS

Elevator / Horizontal Stabilizer

Rudder / Vertical Stabilizer

EXTERNAL PARTS OF THE AIRPLANE

Increases or decreases lift on the horizontal stabilizer symmetrically in order to control the pitch motion of an airplane.

AIRBUS 320

Controls the yaw motion of an airplane. It’s a hinged surface fitted to the vertical stabilizer.

Prevents lateral movements of the airplane.

-Provides a means of evacuation for all the occupants of an aircraft during an emergency.

-Provide a means of evacuation onto the wing, where passengers either continue off the trailing edge by sliding down the extended flaps or by using an evacuation slide that deploys when the exit is opened.

Aileron

ENGINES

Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)

Roll the wings side ward direction.

Generate thrust to overcome the drag and to move in forward direction.

It’s an engine in the tail of the aircraft. It is used only on the ground. It generates electrical power for the aircraft and is used to start the jet engines.

SPOILER AND SPEED BRAKES

-Reduce plane speed.

-Used to slow the plane in the air and while landing.

Cockpit Window EXIT

TAKE OFF

Provides an additional means of evacuation for pilots during an emergency.
