Intro

Today we are going to see how the Mayan Economics and Social Structure worked .The most critical Economic process was Sacrifice .Some of the roles in the Maya Pyramid were the Rulers , Nobles , Artisans , Merchants ,Peasants and Slaves .

Maya Agriculture

The Mayan economy was largely based on trading goods and needs.Some of the food they planted for trading were , corn , beans and squash . I think the most important thing they traded was clothes for food in return .

"Basic agriculture — mostly production of corn, beans, and squash — was the daily task of the majority of the Maya population. Using basic slash-and-burn agriculture, Maya families would plant a series of fields which would be allowed to lie fallow at times."

The Maya Agriculture was really in order because they mostly planted more that they needed and the usually used a really smart technique called "The Slash and Burn "to help them farm faster and safer.

The ancient Maya never used coins as money, They used trading items such as tobacco , Maize and Clothing . They also used cacao to trade for their goods .

We are going to go over the 5 levels of the pyramids and their roles from the top of the pyramid to the bottom of the pyramid .

The five levels of the Mayan social pyramid are the ruler, nobles, artisans and merchants, peasants, and finally slaves. The ruler was most respected and overlooked all projects. The ruler was considered a god king.
