A study conducted in 2011 and disclosed last year revealed that the country has a population of 52 million inhabitants, of which 79% are black and 9.2% white. Statistics also pointed out that while the income of black households had increased by almost 170% in the last 10 years, they are still earning four and five times less than whites.

- Due to the mighty war economy, black labor began to be important for mining and industries and the black population practically doubled.
It was the racial segregation system in South Africa until 1992. Basically, this racial segregation system consisted in the creation of separate places for the different racial groups, in the exclusive power of the white race.
Background : The system was effectively practiced in South Africa for centuries by whites against the black population of this territory
Establishment : Afrikaner racial discrimination against the black population was not formalized until 1948
Daily segregation : In 1953 segregated areas were established in the cities of South Africa
- Blacks couldn’t work in the government and couldn’t vote
- Blacks were not allowed to enter to the areas for white population, unless they had a pass from the police
- The areas assigned to blacks rarely had electricity or water
- The hospitals for blaks were poorly equipped, short of staff

In our opinion, this project was so interesting because it help us to understand what was the era of the apartheid
